It’s grape time again in Italy and this year, notwithstanding the pandemic, there seems to be a bumper harvest and the sweet uva fragola are everywhere. So, it’s time to pull out this amazing recipe again as some of you have already been doing and sending me the results. For those of you that might not have seen it, here’s my recipe from a couple of years ago. Enjoy!
September in Tuscany is time for la vendemmia, the grape harvest. In Tuscany, one of the largest wine producing regions in Italy, it’s a very important time. So traditionally, they celebrate by baking schiacciata con l’uva, a kind of flatbread, filled to the brim with the sweetest grapes. Truly seasonal, this schiacciata appears as if by magic in the Tuscan shops in September and then by the end of October it’s gone.
