Rome’s Big Foot

Have you ever wondered where the names of streets come from? In Rome, there’s a street called Via del Pie’ di Marmo which means, ‘street of the marble foot’. Seems strange, right? But a visit there will answer the question, for on one of the corners is a giant marble foot.

The origin of the foot is unknown but it is thought to have come from the temple of the Egyptian Gods Isis and Serapis which was nearby in ancient times. As a monument, it’s pretty unknown but a great thing to hunt out if you’re in the area.
