White gold

On 26 November 2018, a seven-year-old dog called Enea led his master to buried treasure: a white truffle weighing a whopping 2.010kg (4.33 lb). The truffle was found in Tuscany in the province of Pisa by professional truffle hunter Mauro del Greco. It’s the second largest truffle ever found in Tuscany, the largest, weighing in at 2.520kg, was found in 1954.

The truffle hasn’t been sold yet so we don’t know how much it will fetch. However in 2015, a 1.8kg (4.16 lb) Italian truffle was sold at auction in New York for $61,000 (about €50,000). Let’s hope Enea gets an extra large bone for Christmas.
